KPE Episode 260: "Splatter"

KPE Episode 230 :" The Refugees"

Two Year 5 students, Erene and Joshua from Room 15, bring us this book as their first podcast for KPE. They have joined the
Janice Marriott fan club at Pt England school and tell you about 'The Refugees'. This book has been podcast before by Tanisha and Keletiola so you could listen to their podcast too by clicking here.
The boys give us a lot of detail about what happens when a family is torn apart during a war and the children are left to look after themselves when their parents are taken from them.
They also introduce us to one of their classmates who understands this experience only too well. Have a listen to their podcast and give them some feedback. Maybe you will have some questions for Jephte as well.

KPE Episode 211: "The Curse of Being Pharoah"

"The Curse of Being Pharoah" by Janice Marriott
Leoden and Sela from Room 18 have been reading this book and they give us an excellent recount of what the story is all about. You will find out their thoughts on bullies and you may agree with them after you have listened to the podcast that "what goes around, comes around".
As well as enjoying the book and having fun making the podcast these two presenters had a special thing happen while they were recording the podcast. Robyn Janes, a reporter from TVNZ "Close Up", was in the school with a camera person and she filmed them creating this podcast. We are still waiting for the interview to appear on television, but you can be sure that when it does we will provide a link to the programme from here to. So keep checking back.

KPE Episode 206: "Brave As"

Uani and Xeneqe bring you their final podcast before they leave Pt Engand School and head off to Intermediate School in 2009.
This book is another one by one of our favourite authors at PES, Janice Marriott. It is about a boy called Matt who has a lot of fears. In this story Matt begins to confront and resolve each problem, and as he does this his life doesn’t seem so bad after all. Some of them the girls can identify with, like when he has to give a speech in class. And during the podcast the girls talk about some of the fears they have confronted.

KPE Episode 190: "Splatter"

Mokani and Colin have been reading another book by one of our favourite New Zealand authors - Janice Marriott. When you listen to this podcast you will be able to tell that the boys really enjoyed this story. It is about a boy called Darryl who joins Greg and Sam for the ride of his life. He goes on a quad-bike tour that involves lots of mud. You probably could guess that from the title and at one stage our podcasters even tell us that their favourite part of the book was all the mud! Of course mud is on everyones' minds after all the rain we have had this Winter. Everytime we go outside we are stepping though mud and lots of our Winter sport has been played in the mud.
We hear from Colin about his experiences when he used to live in Samoa and got to ride a chopper motor bike and a scooter around his family's property. And Mokani tells us about riding a motor bike when he was on holiday in the Cook Islands. Have a listen, we know you will enjoy this one...

KPE Episode 182 "The Magic Noodle Show"

Leoden and Campbell are in Room 15, a Year 5 class, and they have written and recorded this podcast. They tell us about a book by an author who has taken time out to visit Pt England School because she heard about our podcasts. This story is about a boy called Hong. Hong's class is having a careers afternoon, and his grandfather is coming to talk about his job. Hong's family runs a Chinese restaurant, and he's nervous about what his classmates will think when his grandfather speaks. How can making noodles be interesting? Well you will find out as you listen that making noodles is VERY interesting and that these boys love to eat them!

KPE Episode157 - "Eye of the Storm"

"Eye in the Sky" by Janice Marriott is Leauma and Kelvin's final podcast before leaving Pt England School for ever! They really enjoyed this story and put a lot of effort into conveying the enjoyment they experienced to their listeners. We know you will like it too. The eyeball in this story has some pretty amazing and funny adventures, and somewhere in the story there is an astronaut just returned from a mission to space. This would be a great book to start your year reading with.
Thanks to Leauma and Kelvin for all the episodes of KPE you have posted. In 2008 these boys will be entering Intermediate School and we will miss them. Good luck and Ka kite ano!

KPE Episode 144

"Beanbag" by Janice Marriott is the book reviewed in Episode 144 of KPE. Lani from Room 17 has been reading this book and his DJ, Moses points out that it is another cat story. Lani has podcast a few cat stories this year and he tells us that this is his last one. He is going to move on to other kinds of books after this! Beanbag is the name of a cat and his owner takes him to school one day to the class pet show. Beanbag is not one of those quiet cats and he escapes from his box and chases a dog around the classroom and creates a huge mess. Then he runs away... The boys enjoyed recording this story, though we are sorry there are a few problems with the microphone in this episode. We hope you enjoy it!

KPE Episode 143: "The Refugees"

Tanisha and Keletiola from Room 15 have been reading this book and bring us episode 143. It is the story of a family who have to leave their war-torn country as refugees. A young boy and his sister are separated from their parents and are forced to leave their home, after soldiers ransack it. The children end up in a refugee camp for a month before being allowed back to what remains of their home.

KPE Episode 132 - "The Dog I Share"

Tanisha and Ramona from Room 15 tell us about another one of Janice Marriott's books. This story is about a girl who lives in a block of flats in the city. When a new tenant with a dog moves into her block of flats, Becky gets very excited. But the new neighbour isn’t very friendly, so Becky has to think of a plan if she is going to get to play with the dog.

Janice Marriott is one of our favourite authors and we have fond memories of the day she spent at Pt England School.
From the beginning of time until last Monday, Matt was the bully and know-it-all in our class. Karen Kwon was the quiet kid at the back who no-one remembered to ask to birthday parties.
But last Monday, everything changed. Now Matt sits at the back of the class, as quiet as an Egyptian mummy. Karen is giggly and happy... This story is about how this big change happened!
