Kayde and Matthew from room 20 have done a great review of "Journey to the Volcano Palace" by Tony Abbott, which is one book of a great series called The Secrets of Droon.
Imagine having your very own teleport in the basement of your house which sends you to a magical place when ever you want. Lucky for one boy named Eric he has that.
He noticed that he was having the same dream over and over again you will be there within a week.
Funnily enough Eric has two other friends who also come across this same dream and have both visited Droon.
As the friends were teleported to this magical world, little did they know there was a specific no humans policy.
And what would be a magical world without a distressed princess, who is in need of help from the three friends to help find her magic jewel.

The students in Room 18 have a very cool movie to share with you. Mrs Lagitupu and her class of Year 6 students have been working on this for some time and they are very proud to publish their finished movie. They have not only written, filmed and edited the movie themselves but as you will see when you watch it, they have been all over Auckland in the filming process. You will see the markets in Otara, the Museum in Auckland, a Niuean hair cutting ceremony, Samoan tatooing, visit a Kohanga Reo and much much more. Prepare to be amazed.....
"To the Harbour" by Stanley Palmer.Matthew and Wayjo from Room 18 are the producers of this podcast. They have chosen a book that is one of the finalists in the picture book section of the2008 "New Zealand Post Book Awards". They tell us they have really enjoyed this book and give us three main reasons.First they say that it tells us a lot about what New Zealand was like in the time our grandparents were young.Second they really enjoyed the pictures in the book. The author painted the pictures himself and photographs of them are used to illustrate the book.And finally, it is a really interesting story about some kids who set out on an adventure. They run into danger and have to get themselves out of it and get home safely.

Beyond the River by Joy Cowley.
This book is a collection of short stories for young people aged 10 - 14 years.
These stories for young people are set firmly in the South Pacific. Most of the stories are from Aotearoa/New Zealand and most are fantasy. All of them are water stories, according to John who has been reading it. Matthew is DJ for this episode and he interviews John who is his classmate in Room 15. Both boys are in Year 5. John tells us all about one of the stories in the book called the "Sea of Peace". This story is set on a farm in New Zealand and is about a boy called Brian who is having his 18th birthday. He is going through a hard time because he failed his end of year exams and can't get a job. The boys recommend this book and think that you would enjoy reading it too.
"It's all in your mind, James Robert" by Rebecca Weber. Matthew from Room 15 has read this book and Jama'al is his DJ for the podcast.

The themes in this story match what we are learning this term at Pt England School in our study of the "Wonderful World of Water" . The boys discuss the impact of water pollutants on the environment in the light of what they have been learning over the past weeks.
"The Tree Girl" by Pauline Cartwright is presented by John and Matthew from Room 15. Both of these boys are Year 5 students. The story includes themes of conservation and land ownership.John says " I think it was a pretty interesting book. KPE Episode 82 - "Oscar in Danger" by Joy Cowley. Tanisha and Matthew from Room 15 have both read this book and they share the story in this episode. They are both in Year 5 and this is their first podcast.
In this book the cat family has a visit from their friend Mr M Gull who has his wing in a sling. He needs a kindly paw and asks Oscar to go back to the city to help him for a few days. But what is Mr Gull's secret mission? What is his secret name? Little does Oscar know that there is something terrible waiting for him and all small animals who believe in Santa Claws...
